I encourage you today to get up, go do something that brings you joy and keep doing these sort of things daily.
Recovery and healing are possible and I am living proof of this,
yet it’s not always easy and it will take a lot of work on your part.
Not what you expected me to say?
I have no magic words for anyone
but
I do have one heck of a God story
To share mixed with my own effortsTo help me get to where I am today

A Little Joy During a Difficult Time

This is me playing disc or some people call it frisbee golf last week with my husband. It was my first time ever playing and I was able to get several of the baskets and only four throws so that meant that it only took me one more throw than required for some of them. Others it took me like eight or so tries but I never gave up on myself. I would throw over and over again until I made each basket! It made me feel so proud of myself for pushing through no matter how tired my arm was getting or how many times I would miss by a long distance. It made me work on my patience which is something that I struggle with daily. My arm still hurts today but it was worth it and I’m actually about to start practicing in my yard because I really want to be able to make a basket from about 20 feet away!
I was using my white cane to help me walk around so people could tell that I was blind. At one point we were in an area that was connected to some people‘s backyards and there was a group of little boys out there watching me. They started yelling that I threw really far!!!!! This made my day because I was showing a group of kids that you can do anything you put your heart and mind to with dedication and determination!
One day they are going to think back on that moment and they’re going to push through when they were considering giving up on something. This is exactly the type of thing that makes me keep advocating and trying to teach people to except others no matter their ability. I Bet those little boys would have picked me during first round to be on their team!!!
